All the states bordering Springfield...
We're a scant two weeks away from quite possibly one of the most anticipated movie releases ever. On Friday, July 27, The Simpsons: The Movie bows in theaters nationwide. But of course, you have debut the movie in a Springfield, as that only makes sense (plus its a really clever marketing gimmick). So the question becomes, which Springfield do you premiere it in? Well, one Springfield just found out.
The winning Springfield is Springfield, VT. The town competed with 13 other Springfields from around the country in submitting videos showing their enthusiasm for The Simpsons for the bragging rights of hosting the premiere of the upcoming movie. They will host the premiere of the movie on July 21, with Matt Groening et al on hand to walk the "yellow" carpet.
Coming in second place was Springfield, IL (my first guess for the "true" location), and third was Springfield, OR.
