You've probably seen the trailer by now. Wolverine wrecking shop, with a slew of mutants either in his way or on his side. All of them easily identifiable with the exception of one. A crippled looking hero with his mouth sewn shut. Who could that possibly be?
MTV Splash Page asked Ryan Reynolds, and he said it was Deadpool. Not the red and black spandex clad Merc with a Mouth that you know and love. But an origin version of the character that Reynolds says will make you that much more interested in him.
“That, I would say, is Deadpool, yeah,” Reynolds told MTV News. “When I’m in the scarred makeup too, and you’ll see closer shots obviously in the film, and it’s hard to even tell that’s me, but you can tell. You’ve just got to find a better shot.”
“I’m not going to get into exactly what’s going on with his mouth, particularly because he is ‘the merc with the mouth,’” added Reynolds when asked, given his previous response, what it was like to film with his mouth sealed. “But it’s going to be pretty interesting when people see it. People are going to be blown away and have a deep appreciation for what it is and how that character fits into this universe.”
Hopefully his inclusion in this film is sort of a screentest for his own film. With Reynolds playing Deadpool. And we end up finding out that his mouth is sewn shut but he finds some way to get it open and start spitting out the sarcastic remarks we've come to expect from.
By the way, this movie looks genuine badass.
