Transformers 3 not until 2012?

Yesterday I brought you the word that Transformers 3 was slated for a July 2, 2011 release date. That would be epic, because that year is going to be chock full of insanely fantastic movies. It seems however that Michael Bay wasn't quite on board with the date given out by Paramount. Bay recently updated his message board with the following: I said I was taking off a year from Transformers. Paramount made a mistake in dating Transformers 3 - they asked me on the phone - I said yes to July 4 - but for 2012 - whoops! Not 2011!!! That would mean I would have to start prep in September. No way. My brain needs a break from fighting robots. So let me get this straight. Bay can make the first film and it releases in 2007. Then he can make the second film and it releases two years later in 2009. You're telling me he needs three years for the third film? Am I missing something? So either Bay or Paramount is going to give on this one. Hopefully Paramount doesn't set an ultimatum that the film be ready by 2011 and Bay decides not to come back. Not that he's the best director in the world or anything, but him and Steven Spielberg have done an admirable job so far with the property. Transformers 3 not until 2012?
