Ramon Rodriguez will have bigger role in Transformers 3
Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen is not very popular with the critics. Well, probably 75% of the critics. Metacritic currently has it at 35 out of 100, while Rotten Tomatoes has it at 20 (for the record I actually kind of liked the movie). As I mentioned, not very well received. The thing is though that the movie has already made nearly $300 million dollars, and Michael Bay has been statistically proven to create consistently performing films. So it's a no-brainer that there will be a third Transformers film. And according to the LA Times, Rodriguez will have a bigger role in said third film.
In case you don't remember, Rodriguez plays Sam Witwicky's roommate/sidekick Leo Spitz in the film. He basically serves as a foil to John Turturro's character and really starts to annoy the hell out of you by the end of the film because he keeps bitching about not dying. Anyways, Bay told the LA Times that if things play out as he expects that there will be a bigger role for Rodriguez in the third film.
Let's break this down shall we?
It's obvious that with the success of both Transformer films that we would see a third one. I mean, Paramount's not going to leave money on the table like that. With that comes even greater expectations, and we can expect Rodriguez to bring a healthy dose of humor and comic relief to the film. Inevitably he'll really give Shia Lebeouf a reason to work out his dramatic face even more, because with Rodriguez Bay won't need Lebeouf to carry all the laughs.
The greater question becomes what would the new film be about. Sure, Megatron and Starscream lived to fight another day. But what exactly will they fight? My guess is we'll finally get to see the Dinobots. The Constructicons were in the sequel, which means that the Dinobots have to be next. Not to mention we never even really saw what happened to every Decepticon not named Megatron or Starscream, so it's feasible that the Constructicons could square off against the Dinobots.
Regardless, the moral of the story is that yes, there will most likely be a third film, and yes, Rodriguez will be back for a greater role.
