Defense with the BoomStick
(Disclaimer: This post is an ongoing story set in a world where zombies have taken over and people are fighting to survive anyway they can. Originally was a post of news and tip to help survivors make it one more day alive, but now has became a story of my fight after being bitten and partially cured to walk as half zombie among them.)
Some people just don’t know when to quit when all signs point to reasons they should.
After doing that bit of destruction on the assholes who had me captured, I took off in the best direction I could guess at. It seems the ones that managed to stay alive in there didn’t take to kindly to that. Instead of licking their wounds and regrouping to move on towards safer ground, the survivors decided to come after me to get their own brand of revenge- a foolish idea on their part.
For the first few days I lead them around on a good chase, occasionally popping off a scout or lookout here on there just to keep them on my trail. Towards the latter part of this week I got bored with this cat and mouse game and, needing to get on with my own path, I decided to take care of them once and for all.
The other night I waited and watched them make camp in this warehouse they found, securing all the entrances from attack. They put a few lookouts on watch for possible zombie attacks and of course on the lookout for me. Taking out the lookouts wasn’t too difficult as over the past few days I managed to snag some gear from the guys I have killed and one had a sweet crossbow that came in handy. Then all it took was unbarring a few ways into the warehouse and luring some zombies in to take care of the rest as I hung back outside by one of the bandits vehicles ready to pick off any who tried to run.
For all the trouble zombies have caused this time they came in handy greatly as only a few actually made it outside. Unfortunately for those few they didn’t last long as I cut them down as they ran for the vehicle. Felt good finishing them all off once and for all as they set out for revenge, but turns out I was the one who got the vengeance in the end and even learned something interesting after I searched them. I found a map on one of the bandits that has detailed locations of supplies and more strongholds they have in the surrounding area.
I figure with this map these guys were planning on make for one of these places after finding me and taking me out. Now I get the chance to get a little more revenge on the rest of these guys and to stop them from continuing to treat other survivors as forced labor. From the looks of the map their furthest outpost is about 150 miles from what was their main base that I took out.
I have to move quickly before they realize my plan and start to mobilize and be on the lookout for an attack. Although that can be to my benefit as if all of them are anticipating an attack they will get sloppy. Them getting sloppy leaves openings in their defenses and allows an attack to have a lot better chance of getting the job done.
Glad to have a plan, even if it is only a plan of revenge. Might as well put being half zombie to good use.
