Defense with the BoomStick
(Disclaimer: This post is an ongoing story set in a world where zombies have taken over and people are fighting to survive anyway they can. Originally it was a post of news and tips to help survivors make it one more day alive, but now it has became a story of my fight after being bitten and partially cured to walk as a half-zombie among them.)
What I wouldn’t do for last week to have been this week. I had plenty of zombie encounters this week to keep me occupied and delay me. Fortunately, I didn’t come across any bandits or the badass zombies that give me a hard time, just the run of the mill regular ones who don’t really bother with me but just got in my way.
Although it was odd this time around as some seemed to be watching me more intently before I put them down as if they realized something might be different.
Since noise is what attracts and excites them, they were all sort of moving about and coming out as I was capping them off. They would just walk towards me then wander off a bit when they realized I wasn’t something they could eat. That still didn’t stop them from staring at me a little longer than they used to, of course putting one in their brain stopped the staring.
I really brought the trouble on my own damn self since I was going through this town in search of some supplies. I have to say the zombie aggravation was well worth it in what I found.
Of course the gun store and camping supply store were both all picked clean as most of them are in towns, but fortunately for me the local barber in this place was a gun nut. I happened upon his back room during my search and man he had all manner of weapons from handguns to rifles to dynamite and all types of ammo. This guy was loaded and now I am as well.
I took as much as I needed and can carry, leaving a good bit for the next person to find. I made sure to leave a note outside saying that plenty of guns were in there in addition to securing the place. In case someone was making a run from zombies they could hold up in there safely to regroup and ammo up.
For me I can't stay here...gotta keep a move on. Try and see if can lure some of the zombies still around the town out of it in the process, perhaps making it a little safer for any survivors that might come through.
Using some of the dynamite I brought down a building or two to make a rubble wall at specific points to help block in the shop and create a safe zone for the most part in the surrounding area. Of course all that noise brought in some more zombies.
I found a workable car and drove it out of town a ways then blew it up as well, drawing one hell of a crowd of zombies that followed me. For now I am crapping out for the day as it's been a busy week.
Keep surviving.
