Defense with the BoomStick
(Disclaimer: This post is an ongoing story set in a world where zombies have taken over and people are fighting to survive anyway they can. Originally it was a post of news and tips to help survivors make it one more day alive, but now it has became a story of my fight after being bitten and partially cured to walk as a half-zombie among them.)
The end of my journey is in sight. I am staged in a building about 1000 yards from the giant wall blocking in the big government stronghold in the Northeast. After that scrap last week with those asstastic bastards who set that trap and were trying to take me for my gear and supplies, I made good time getting here.
I've actually been holding up and keeping watch for a couple of days now as I don’t want to go knocking on their front door just yet. I don't know how they would respond or what sort of defenses they have that will not even give me a shot to declare my intentions.
Seems a lot of people nowadays are shoot first, shoot another time for good measure and then find out what you shot. Since I started my watch of their wall and gate, I haven’t seen that much activity--zombie or survivor alike. In addition no broadcasts as of late from them or survivor groups in the area has me kind of worried.
I don’t really know what the conditions are on the other side of the wall or what sort of walk it's going to be to get on the other side. There are a bunch of landmine signs posted about and I do see some pockmark holes so they must have been working to keep zombies out.
I'll have to stay here for a few more nights to see if I can spot any sort of sentries or any sign that I might be able to signal. If I don’t figure out a way to get a signal to those on the other side or hear a broadcast on what to do, I'll have to come up with a way to get in. I have a feeling that means going even further south to try and go around the wall from the sea.
If memory serves me correctly this wall only goes to the ocean. I should be able to swipe a boat and go around to try and find a port or spot to tie off at and find where I need to be. The sooner I get over the wall the better as I can leave all these bandits and radioactive zombies behind. Perhaps get my notes on a vaccine into hands that can create and perfect it. Maybe stop the few survivors who are left from becoming zombies if bitten and eventually we can outlast these zombies.
Some fireworks would get their attention...a flare gun perhaps...has to be something to do…will keep thinking on it and keep out of sight in case zombies do decide to come by this way.
