Defense with the BoomStick

(Disclaimer: This post is an ongoing story set in a world where zombies have taken over and people are fighting to survive anyway they can. Originally it was a post of news and tips to help survivors make it one more day alive, but now it has became a story of my fight after being bitten and partially cured to walk as a half-zombie among them.)

Got to the coast? Check.

Locating a boat was not the easy part. Sure I found plenty of boats along the coast, but they were half-sunk, burnt out or generally worthless. I kinda of anticipated it would be bad here along the coast—same as it as pretty much everywhere—but didn't realize how hard the coast was actually hit.

Seems they used a number of nukes back when this whole epidemic started and realized it was getting out of hand. The eastern seaboard was hit especially hard with such a huge concentration of the population braced here from New York down. I guess for New England they either didn't get a chance to use them or someone had a moral qualm and didn't do it.

Got off point for a second. Back to the rest of coast.

We had to move further north from Atlantic City and Leisure City (our intended destination) just to avoid the fallout. Kept moving up the coast, trying to keep it in sight, but when no cover was near we moved inland to have spots to hide out in at night. Periodically popping back out to the shore to look for boats as we moved north.

For once we've had a good few days and managed to find a boat this past Wednesday that was seaworthy. It's a piece of junk tugboat that can only go like five miles an hour on the open sea, but the fact that we got it working is all that matters. We've been chugging along northeast now since yesterday afternoon, keeping the coast in sight as I don't think this boat could last on the open sea.

We have to keep vigilant since there are only two of us, but at least we can get some sleep knowing zombies aren't around the next corner.

If it's possible we're aiming to stop somewhere along Long Island in search of supplies and other survivors if there are any left. Figure the more people on this tug the better chance of making it to the government stronghold further north. Last I heard they they were processing survivor boats coming in from the north of Boston since they sealed up the city with walls and bombed it to hell with non-nuclear bombs.

Man I hope this piece of crap makes it... need some sleep...
