Asylum Press Celebrates Free Comic Book Day
Asylum Press wants to get its wares in front of you on Free Comic Book Day as well and is making sure that those looking for digital comics aren't left out.
The Asylum Press Sampler Free Comic Book 2012 #1 will feature eight pages each from four upcoming titles: Trenchcoats, Cigarettes and Shotguns, Black Powder, Farmouse and Chopper. It will be available on Comixology, Comics+ (Iverse), Graphicly, MyDigitalComics.com as well as stand alone apps and epubs on KindleFire, Nook, Kobo, ibookstore, and Googlebooks.
"We're excited about the possibility of reaching new fans on Free Comic Book Day,“ explains publisher Frank Forte, "People will be going to comics stores in droves, but they'll also be on their tablets and ipads. Mobile device and smart phone ownership keeps growing at an amazing rate and we want to provide great comics to these readers. Digital comics are the return of the newsstand. Trenchcoats, Cigarettes and Shotguns will appeal to people who like crime comics splattered with demons. Black Powder is an exciting tale of pioneers and river pirates in the mid 1800's. Farmhouse will appeal to Vertigo fans. And Chopper is a straight up horror/thriller."
Trenchcoats, Cigarettes and Shotguns is written by Chuck Brown and illustrated by Philipp Nuendorf. The demonic mob murders the friend of a hitman named Trypp, leading to blazing a path of destruction and blood in vengeance for her death. Black Powder #2 is written by Dwayne Harris and is described as "Buckskin Apocalpyse Now," where Robert Young and his crew set out on the Mississippi river in search of Molly Livingston.
Farmhouse is a tale of a drifter who falls in love with an artist undergoing an experimental art therapy regimen, by Elizabeth J. Musgrave and Szymon Kudranski. Finally, the Chopper #2 preview is written by Martin Shapiro and illustrated by Juan Ferreyra. Christina and her girlfriends go to the Daytona Bike Week and sneak into a club. After taking a drug called Stairway to Heaven, Christina and Trish encounter a ghostly Reaper, a headless Hell's Angel.
