Asylum Press Releases Lori Lovecraft: Into the Past #1
Ever hear of Lori Lovecraft? If you haven't, then Asylum Press has got you covered. The publisher is poised to release Lori Lovecraft: Into the Past #1, a brand new series written by Ventrella and Mike Vosburg with illustrations by Vosburg. And Vosburg is tapping into a rather creepy source for inspiration for the character.
"Lori was actually inspired by my experiences working on HBO's Tales From the Crypt," explains Mike Vosburg. "It's a combination of two things I dearly love: drawing beautiful women and old movies. And Pete Ventrella's scripts were magic to work on."
Lori Lovecraft: Into the Past #1 has Danke Schoen hiring private eye R.C. Bowen to find the child she gave up for adoption years ago. Lori and R.C. follow a trail that has them crossing paths with basketball star Lenny "the Legend" Raven, the Mayor of LA and the devious Amanda, a Hollywood player who heads the insidious Cabal, and Elston Gunn the aging king of Rock 'n Roll. They are all after the Necronomicon, the fabulous book of spells that Lori has in her possession and they will stop at nothing to get it. This one culminates in a cosmic rock concert with in Voodoo Mansion with all the villains, Horatio and Zelda, and lots of Lori's old boyfriends in attendance. And then there is Lori's wedding at the end.
“We’re excited to have Mike on board at Asylum,” says publisher Frank Forte, “Retrowood fits in with our growing list of titles. After Lori Lovecraft: Into the Past #1 we have a number of one shots coming out as well as a Linda Lovecraft (Lori’s aunt) series that Mike had hidden in his coffers for years."
