Unseen Shadows Hits Web as Free Series

When the X-Files meets anything, then you know that things are going to get weird. Supernatural even. And a character found in Cancertown from Cy Dethan will bring with him his own share of strangeness. That strangeness comes in a new comic web series, courtesy of Bob Kelsey.

“Bob Kelsey is an everyman in a world populated with monsters and heroes," said Dethan. "To survive in those hunting grounds takes the self-preservation instincts of a feral rat. That’s what Bob Kelsey is to me.”

Dethan took Kelsey, originally written as a minor character in Barry Nugent’s modern day pulp adventure novel Fallen Heroes, and expanded his role, revealing what the character was up to following the events of the novel. Bob Kelsey Investigates is a standalone web comic, released for free via the Unseen Shadows website and other digital outlets.

First out of the gate in the new webseries will be a two-pager called "Neck on the Line" by Unseen Shadows newcomers Virgil Yendell and James Evans. The story sees Bob recounting his latest supernatural misadventure over a drink, or three. The comic is available to read on the Unseen Shadows website now, with a second story already in development by Richmond Clements, Roy Huteson Stewart and Paul Mclaren.

“These are not just nice little side stories with no impact on the events surrounding them,” said Nugent, the founder of Unseen Shadows explains. “The spin-offs expand and enhance the characters lives and relationships within the novels. It was important to me that the spin offs can be read, watched and listened to independently of each other and the novels, but you will get more insights into the characters by experiencing everything the Unseen Shadows universe has to offer.”

UNSEEN SHADOWS LAUNCHES FREE WEB COMIC SERIES - Bob Kelsey Investigates

X files meets Kolchak: The Night Stalker in Bob Kelsey Investigates – A web comic, featuring an ex reporter with a nose for the macabre!

“Bob Kelsey is an everyman in a world populated with monsters and heroes. To survive in those hunting grounds takes the self-preservation instincts of a feral rat. That’s what Bob Kelsey is to me.” – Cy Dethan.
Bob Kelsey, the reporter who seems to always end up on the wrong side of the supernatural, was given his first outing by Cy Dethan (Cancertown, Cancertown 2, White Knuckle) in the comic one shot The Immaculate Abortion of Dina Leigh.

Cy took Kelsey, originally written as a minor character in Barry Nugent’s modern day pulp adventure novel Fallen Heroes, and expanded his role, revealing what the character was up to following the events of the novel.

“After reading the final script from Cy and the eventual comic, I realised that there was a great opportunity to tell some short solo stories with Bob and so the idea of Bob Kelsey Investigates was born,” explains Barry.

Bob Kelsey Investigates is a standalone web comic, released for free via the Unseen Shadows website and other digital outlets. To those who people have yet to read the novel and are unsure about reading the comic Barry had this to say.

“Yes there is more to be gained if you have if you have read Fallen Heroes, but the beauty of this web comic, like the other Unseen Shadows project, is that it will be standalone.”

First out of the gate will be a two pager called Neck on the Line by Unseen Shadows newcomers Virgil Yendell (writer) and James Evans (Artist/Letterer). The story sees Bob recounting his latest supernatural misadventure over a drink, or three. The comic is available to read on the Unseen Shadows website now, with a second story already in development by Richmond Clements, Roy Huteson Stewart and Paul Mclaren.
