(Defense With The BoomStick Disclaimer: This post is an ongoing story set in a world where zombies have taken over and people are fighting to survive anyway they can. Originally it was a post of news and tips to help survivors make it one more day alive, but now it has became a story of my fight to survive and to keep on living.)

Year Five Week Seven

There is only two things that can slow us down and make us stay put: a horde of zombies surrounding us or illness. Illness is what we have as half the group is down with the flu which has prevented us from moving out of that truck repair depot. In this world any illness can be the one that takes you down so we aren’t taking any chances.

We wanted to get back on the road after getting our vehicles tuned up and rest up for a few days until this hit us. I think it’s been four days now since some of us started showing symptoms and it's been unpleasant ever since. With the vomiting, lack of energy and coughing it has been tough to keep our position secure and secret.

With half the group sick, that leaves only three left to maintain the fence to protect against zombie incursion and to make sure they don’t group together large enough to pull the fence section down. It's been tough on everyone, especially the sick ones like myself who can't help out and must be protected. To make matters worse, the pace we're running through our medical supplies that were low to begin with. That's forcing us to stretch our supplies around the best that we can and make sure everyone stays hydrated.

Looking at how the weather has been the past few weeks I think we're hitting fall. That will bring its own set of challenges with us being up here in this forest that has mountain ranges and it's gonna get cold. This new challenge will make finding warm clothes, plenty of water and more medicine damn important as I see colds or even worse illnesses coming back hard over the next few months that will test us. That's ff we even survive over the next few months, as winters have been getting worse and worse to make it through.
