Defense With The BoomStick
(Disclaimer: This post is an ongoing story set in a world where zombies have taken over and people are fighting to survive anyway they can. Originally it was a post of news and tips to help survivors make it one more day alive, but now it has became a story of my fight to survive and to keep on living.)
Year 5. Week 33.
Control of the city is ours.
As of this morning we've just about eradicated every zombie in and around Carson City. Right now we're finishing up clearing the eastern edge of the city and beginning to mobilize our forces to collect what we can and start our trek out of here. This town isn’t able to sustain any life (except zombies) and we're making sure even they can't call this place home anymore. Our plan is to get every survivor and fallen comrade loaded up on vehicles and get them out of here towards the northern California camp. Then, we'll firebomb the hell out of Carson City to make sure nothing survives here or is able to use it again.
This victory is something we've all earned; it was hard fought and not without some casualties. There wasn't a single zombie left moaning and for the radioactive zombies we made sure to completely obliterate their corpses so there's no chance for them to put back together. We have been putting C-4 and other explosives inside all of the big buildings' structural points to bring them all down when we pull out, just before the fire bombing. Just to make sure this city is laid to waste as we were unable to learn why the zombies were all congregating here.
One nice bonus we did discover was that the zombies had an oddly large cache of weapons and gear; guess it's from all the survivors they've captured and corralled through here. We've been checking it over and keeping the stuff that's still good and not covered in gore and blood, because right now every little bit helps especially weapons and ammo until we can get a place to mass produce the stuff. I know the government forces in the northwest are have some manufacturing capabilities, but we still need to create more. It's beginning to feel like maybe we can take our world back; optimism is something none of us have had in a long time.
With the way progress is moving around here it looks like we'll be moving out in a day or two. Gotta make sure we don’t leave anything or anyone behind as nobody wants to be around here when the bombs and planes come through. After getting to the camp in northern California, I'm not sure of the plan from there; since taking out this large group of zombies has definitely helped everyone out. Plenty of time to figure that out later; right now, some rest will feel damn good.
