Steven Universe Shines at KaBOOM!
Rebecca Sugar is a name that merits applaud. Why? Well, other than what is presumed to be awesome person, she's also the first woman to create her own show for Cartoon Network. That show is Steven Universe and now that show is being adapted into a comic, courtesy of KaBOOM! and writer Jeremy Sorese and artist Coleman Engle. Steven is a plucky kid living in a small beach community, and he also just so happens to be a member of the Crystal Gems, a group of intergalactic warriors who use their special gems to summon magical weapons to save the day.
“Steven Universe is in a league of its own,” said BOOM! Studios Editor-in-Chief Matt Gagnon. “Rebecca has put so much of herself into the show, and that passion completely translates to the screen and the page. What Jeremy and Coleman are doing to make this comic as brilliant as the show is just remarkable.”
